So this year is the year that I've decided to take control of my life and get out there and learn and experience all that I have been curious about all these many years (41 if you really must know), and part of my quest was religion and sexualtiy. I joined a christian church (and as a total liberal, it has been quite difficult for me, but it has all been about my relationship with God, not with the churchs view points, which are SO different from mine, but oh well). The second part was finally getting the nerve up to put to rest my curiosity about being with another woman, so I put up an add on craigslist (really didn't know where else to start to tell you the truth) and after sorting through all the nonsense that was emailed to me ("no thank you, I don't want to join your husband/boyfriend and you") . I found someone like me that wants to take it slow and easy, become friends first and then see what developes between us. I guess my problem is that even though I'm very liberal, I was raised "lapse-catholic", and Latina to boot, I'm wondering if and/or when the time comes to "put-up or shut-up" whether I will go through with it. Any insights will be appareciated (and please, if you are a "hater" or just want to rant and rave about straight women wanting to be with another woman because its a "fad", please don't respond to this post, as I am totally not there, too old to be chasing any "fad"s, ya know?).
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Taking Control of My Life (christianity and sexuality)
Mon, November 20, 2006 - 5:52 PMi don't have any advice on your relationship, there are too many things that you (and I) don't know about it to say anything meaningful.
but i want to tell you that there are many different kinds of christian churches out there, and you really shouldn't go to one that doesn't reflect your views. I think that will eventuallty cause you to become cynical and in the end lead you away from your relationship with god. In the bay area, there are several gay positive churches that straight and bi people go to that are welcoming of many different viewpoints. I hope that you find something that is a better fit for you.
